Hello
I’m so pleased to announce that we’re working on a new short film.
It’s called She Used to Ride Horses. It’s animated. And I can share the one-sheet.
Closedown has been shortlisted and will be screened at Cardiff Mini Film Festival in June. We are very excited.
We have an updated poster with lovely new laurels:
Here is the shortlist poster for our category ‘Twisted Tales’:
It’s official. Closedown is an award-winning short film!
Thank you again to everyone who helped us make this film and to all the organisers and staff at Newlyn International Film Festival for putting on a great festival programme and including us in it. We are super grateful to have been shortlisted and even more so to have won.
Our spirits are raised for whatever comes next.
We’ve made progress!
We know, it’s been a really, really long time. Far too long. Truth be told, we’ve let other things get in the way of our work on Closedown and Very Long Road more generally.
But hey, we’re working on it again, and we’re making headway. Hooray! The master edit is complete, the music (chosen by the lovely Liam) is on and levelled and that’s left is…
Hours of visual effects work and those finickety finishing touches. Peter is on it though, like the hero he is; so it’s in good hands.
It’s good to be back.
It’s been a while since the last update. Here at Very Long Road, we’ve been pretty busy finishing up the production side of ‘Closedown’. Now it’s editing time. Peter’s doing an excellent job so far, but it’s a long road (how apt). CH and her co-director Liam (from Baby Elvis and Chewbacca’s Beard) are providing guidance and creative input throughout this process.
Here’s a little tiny taste of what we’ve got going on (yes those black bars do represent CinemaScope).
Hey there folks.
We’re still around, still working on ‘Closedown’ although the process is slow.
I’ve been writing about this over on my website, if you’re so inclined, you can read about our most recent adventures here.

Hey there folks,
I’m going to be posting brief weekly updates following our adventures in no-budget filmmaking.
If you want to check out week one, you can do it here. If not, that’s cool too.

Production has begun!
We are very excited to announce that Very Long Road is embarking on its maiden voyage into live-action filmmaking.
Closedown is filming right now in Cornwall.
…Well, not right now; right now I’m typing.
We just finished day one–or should I say night one–with more to come over the next few days, so watch this space.
You can also find us on Facebook or Twitter for sneak peaks and regular updates.
We’ve taken inventory and we can’t wait to put all this to use.
Welcome to Very Long Road’s very own toolkit:
